Pets account for the largest number of complaints

Being a responsible pet owner takes on a new dimension in managed
communities. The number and size of your pets may be restricted
or prohibited entirely.

When you purchased your home, you were provided a set of
governing documents that included covenants and deed restrictions
along with a set of Rules and Regulations that have been adopted
by the board of administration for your community.

These documents may contain restrictions and limitations on
the number, size and type of pets you may maintain on the property.
In addition, city or county ordinances may require registration and
proof of immunization for your cat or dog. They may also prohibit
keeping certain types of animals as pets.

If you rent or lease your home, your rights are transferred and
your responsibilities are binding on your tenant.

Even though your tenant must comply with the community rules
and regulations regarding pets, as the homeowner, you may remain
responsible in the event of any violations or injuries. For this
reason, many homeowners in pet restricted communities elect to
be more restrictive or prohibit tenants from bringing animals onto
the premises.
